Archiving Policy
The SAPS is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its scholarly content. We recognize the importance of ensuring that all published articles remain accessible, discoverable, and protected against digital loss, corruption, or obsolescence.
To uphold the principles of digital permanence and scholarly integrity, SAPS implements the following archiving and digital preservation strategies:
PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)
SAPS utilizes the PKP Preservation Network via its Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform. The PKP PN provides free, decentralized, and distributed archiving for journals using OJS, ensuring long-term access to content even in the event of journal discontinuation or data loss.
• PKP PN enables secure storage across multiple trusted library partners.
• Articles archived through PKP PN remain accessible via their DOIs and metadata.
Self-Archiving by Authors (Green OA)
Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit their pre-print, post-print, or publisher’s PDF version of articles in:
• Institutional repositories
• Subject repositories (e.g., PubMed Central, Europe PMC)
• Author’s personal or departmental websites
• ResearchGate or Academia.edu
This supports both visibility and long-term availability of research. All deposited versions must cite the final published article in SAPS with a link to the journal website and DOI.
Internal Backup & Redundancy
SAPS maintains regular internal backups of its website, databases, and published content. These are stored securely on multiple remote servers/hard drives with version history to ensure:
• Recovery in case of accidental loss or cyberattack
• Content integrity and file redundancy
Metadata Archiving
All articles are assigned rich metadata and exported in OAI-PMH-compliant formats to enhance interoperability and accessibility by indexing services and repositories.
